One of the most celebrated sporting legends of all time and winner of numerous accolades in an established career spanning over two decades, American tennis icon Serena Williams celebrates her 40th birthday today.
Having started her tennis career in 1995, Serena Williams had a gradual rise of stardom as she landed inside top 100 by the end of 1997. During these years, the American didn’t participate in events continuously.

Serena’s quest for 24th major title continues in 2022
It was in 1998 where Serena became a full-fledged professional tennis player on the WTA tour. Following that year, the American managed to capture her first-ever major title at the US Open, after defeating the likes of Kim Clijsters, Monica Seles, and Lindsay Davenport.
Ever since her first slam title, Serena never looked back as she broke record after record to become one of the greats to have ever played the sport. Currently, the American is in rehab after a torn hamstring. The former world no.1 is yet to make an announcement over her comeback tournament.

Coach Patrick Mouratoglou sends out a heartwarming message to Serena Williams on 40th birthday
The American’s birthday is celebrated by fans and former players alike as they sent best wishes to the champion. Coach Patrick Mouratoglou, who is associated with Serena Williams for a decade, posted a heart-felt message on Instagram about her legacy.
“Happy 40th birthday to one of the most inspiring women I have ever met. You are still on tour after having won everything and becoming a mother. You won’t stop impressing me, and I am blessed to be sharing that journey with you for a 10th year”, wrote Mouratoglou.

Since their partnership in 2021, Mouratoglou played a crucial role in all the ten major titles won by Serena Williams. Their amazing partnership continues till date and the Frenchman firmly believes that Serena can win another major title with her impeccable technique on-court.
The American, who had a disappointing season this year will look to bounce back stronger than ever and try to lead the race amongst the WTA players in winning slams next year.
