For the players of the ATP, maternity leave is unavoidable. Nevertheless, their love for the game and passion to achieve more always got the better of them. From Margaret Court to Serena Williams, female athletes proved that the talent in them only grew stronger with their motherhood.

Serena Williams won her final career Grand Slam while she was pregnant, which awe-struck the world. The former world number three was also added to the list of greatest comebacks. The new mommy on the list, Elina Svitolina gave birth to a baby girl in October 2022. Cut to six months, and she entered professional tennis through the protected ranking system.

The Ukrainian player beat the Russian number one, Daria Kasatkina, in the third round at the French Open. She then reached the quarter-finals but lost to the 2nd seed Aryna Sabalenka. Her rank was 1344 after the Charleston Open, and she then moved to 540th rank after emerging as a semi-finalist in L’Open 35 de Saint-Malo 2023.

The seventeen times WTA Singles tour title winner was ranked 192 from 540 after winning the 2023 Strasbourg Open. Her play at Roland Garros offered her a position in the Top 100. She now ranks 73 in the world and looks forward to improving her ranking by playing in more tournaments.

Svitolina started her post-pregnancy period unranked and is now world number 73. The 28-year-old achieved this feat in just two months and two days. She went from a non-seeded player on April 3rd to the current world number 73 on June 12th. Her performance in French Open reflected her courage and fire in her to do more.

Svitolina took a break from professional tennis after playing Miami Open 2022. She emerged as a runner-up in the tournament, losing to Heather Watson. The former Ukrainian number one resumed her play in April 2023 through Charleston Open but lost in the first round. The current 73rd seed then played Strasbourg Open and emerged as a winner, claiming her first title as a mother.

On the other hand, Serena Williams took a break from Tennis after winning the Australian Open in 2017. Momma Smash was eight weeks pregnant when she won the Slam. After giving birth to her daughter, she entered the court through Indian Wells. However, Venus Williams, her sister, defeated her in the finals.
