There’s energy because you had such an emotional moment, every single night that Serena was playing so many people tuned in you could feel the energy of everyone watching, not just filling the Arthur Ashe, but‌ everyone watching.”

Serena Williams’ match broke the all time attendance record

The 6-time US Open champion’s opening match was a jam-packed event. A total of 29,402 spectators came to see the American legend play in her last tournament. The opening night match recorded the highest all time attendance for any night session. It was one of the biggest crowd ever witnessed at an evening event at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
