Kerber takes on Muchova today for a place in the semifinals. Although the German exited in the first round of the Australian Open and French Open earlier this year, her comeback in this Grand Slam is looking strong.
During her initial years on the WTA tour, one of her major adversaries came in the form of Ana Ivanovic. The former Serbian tennis star faced off against Kerber in various tournaments, which forged their friendship. Kerber’s quarterfinal match against Muchova will take place on Court 1 today. Despite back-to-back first round exits in the previous two Grand Slams, the German looks more improved at The Wimbledon Championships.
In four matches so far, Kerber won two of them in straight sets including an impressive one over $20 seed Coco Gauff. However, Muchova has three straight-set wins in the tournament, which includes one over #16 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
