It’s Super Bowl season! And if there was any less excitement this time; Rihanna’s performance undoubtedly made up for it. However, another instance, related to NFL Super Bowl linked to Serena Williams, caught the eye of tennis fans. This led to further diverging opinions from the fan base, even questioning the American tennis legend’s faith.
The Queen of the Court dominated Super Bowl commercials this year, as she did with tennis during her heyday on the WTA Tour. However, not all the commercials were taken lightly by tennis fans; particularly her starring in liquor commercials.

During the Super Bowl LVII season, the American tennis legend starred as the face of the Cognac house Michelon Ultra’s first-ever Super Bowl commercial. And needless to say, it has been a hit campaign for the house. In one commercial, Williams is featured in a golden varsity as she comes out of the football tunnel. And in another one, we can see the 23-time Grand Slam champion, sitting at the bar, with a glass of cognac in her hand. This particular Cognac ad drew sharp criticism from some fans.
Every hardcore fan of Serena knows that the Williams family are devout Jehovah’s Witnesses. Even little Olympia observes it. And some fan responses mentioned the 41-year-old’s faith in their criticism. A fan wrote on Twitter, “does seem weird for a Jehovah’s witness, but you know she made a lot of money.”

Well, whether it was a moneymaking opportunity for Williams or it was due to appreciation towards similar values as the brand owner, Rémy Martin, the campaign is a hit! Maybe not as big as the world-renowned singer, Rihanna’s comeback performance at half-time.
Serena’s fan moment for the R&B singer
Before the spellbound performance of the ‘Diamond’ singer, during the Super Bowl half-time show, Serena had her fan moment. She praised the singer for her beautiful work and made a heart-warming wish for her super bowl performance. More than the mouthwatering clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, Serena, like most people in the arena, was there to watch Rihanna perform.
