What makes her stand apart is the fact that not only is she fierce on the court, but also warm and welcoming to her followers on social media. Recently, she took to sharing another life update with her fans on Instagram that will leave them both delighted and amused.

Coco is back in Qatar! With her amazing performance at the Doha Open last year where she clinched the winner’s tag with Jessica Pegula, Coco is set to make a mark on Qatar this time around as well. While her fans are excited to see her back on the court as a defending champion, she also gave them something to talk about with her latest Instagram story.

Coco Gauff is just 2 months late for the World Cup!

According to Coco’s Instagram story, the tennis idol is missing the World Cup season. With the USA as the Gauff family’s favorite team, Coco wishes she could witness the World Cup live. After she landed in Qatar, the tennis icon shot a video capturing the streets of the country from her car’s window. The cityscape is beautiful in the evening light and tagged with a funny caption that screams ‘Gauff’.

Coco wrote, “Booked my flight for World Cup on the wrong date.”

It is no secret that the World Cup was one of the most popular sporting events of the season, especially with it being the last world cup of players like Neymar, Messi, and Ronaldo. For a sports person like Coco Gauff, who truly believes in living each moment to the fullest, it sure would have been a ride to make it to the world cup. However, she is also in Qatar to make history, not for soccer, but for tennis.

Post the 14-hour-long flight, Coco also reposted her picture from the official Total Energies Open page that shows her getting a warm welcome, with a big smile!

The tournament also boasts the appearance of the current world no.1, Iga Swiatek. Iga will return as the defending champion in singles, much like Coco and Pegula in doubles.

Other than that, six of the world’s top 10 players will be present at the tournament. While in terms of viewership, this means a lot, it also highlights how the Middle East is now a rising theatre for the tennis scene.
