“A Total Miss”- WWE Legend Criticizes CM Punk for Shooting on WWE Upon AEW Debut on Rampage

CM Punk shook the world last week when he made his All Elite Wrestling debut. The ratings for AEW went through the roof, and rightly so. The debut received extremely good reviews from both wrestlers and wrestling critics.
However, there is one wrestling legend who did not appreciate Punk mentioning WWE. WWE Hall of Famer Booker T thinks Punk should have just put AEW over, rather than talking about WWE.

In his “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker stated,
“CM Punk came back, and he had 10 full television minutes to go out there and make his point as far as Punk is coming back. He had the perfect crowd to be able to go out there and really… I’m talking about, have a party up in that United Center. But, CM Punk came back and took his moment and chose to talk about WWE. That right there was a total miss as far as I’m concerned.”
“I just don’t think CM Punk delivered the way he could have, as far as a promo goes. I didn’t feel a promo, I felt like a guy talking about WWE. When you’re talking about the other side, the only thing you’re doing is giving them air-time.” (H/t Ringside News)
The fans feel the complete opposite. They think that Punk’s promo was perfect and him mentioning WWE made it even better. Fans remember that dissing WWE is what made him popular in the first place. He was the original Anti-WWE guy, and it made an interesting gimmick that the hardcore fans latched on to.

CM Punk had the best debut
The general consensus among the people is that CM Punk’s debut and promo were absolutely perfect. The fans wouldn’t change a thing, as it was the perfect blend of everything they wanted to hear.

Another important thing to note is that his promo did not take away the thunder from the rest of the show. The fans came for Punk but stayed for the wrestling. There were many fans who wanted to see ‘The Best in the World‘ throw hands that day, but were still content with just his presence.
