This year saw many changes in WWE, from Vince McMahon returning to the company after being away for several months, to the promotion getting sold to UFC’s parent company Endeavour, which led to the formation of a new combat sports entertainment entity worth $21 billion. But it looks like many more changes are on the way.

A fresh piece of news related to WWE’s upcoming TV rights deal has made its way to the social media world. And the news has something to do with WWE’s rival competition AEW. Let’s dive deep and find out more about the upcoming WWE media deals.

Warner Discovery Bros. possibly interested in the WWE TV deal

Journalist James Andrew Miller recently appeared as a special guest on the SI Media With Jimmy Traina podcast. During the interview, the two talked about many subjects. One was WWE being in the news for its upcoming media deal.

WWE is currently in a deal with FOX to air Friday Night SmackDown and NBC’s USA Network to air Monday Night Raw. The podcast host asked his guest to make a comment on whether he thinks any other company except FOX and NBC would like to do business with WWE.

To this, Miller responded by saying that Warner Discovery Bros. might be interested in joining hands with the sports entertainment giant. He said, “I think so. I wouldn’t be surprised. Despite the fact that money is such an issue for them, I wouldn’t be surprised if Warner Bros. Discovery wouldn’t like a slice of that WWE pie.”

Traina also mentioned that WBD broadcasts AEW shows already. So if the deal happens, there is a possibility of AEW shows clashing with WWE shows. To this, Miller responded he can’t say anything for sure right now, as there is no solid intel. WBD’s interest in a WWE TV deal is the only piece of news he has.

But  Miller stated they might not even land the deal if some FOX or NBC offers a better deal to WWE. “I don’t know but I know there are people at Warner Bros who are interested [in WWE]. If either Fox or NBC comes with a pre-emptive offer WWE likes, they won’t even get a chance,” he added.

However, if WBD lands WWE TV rights, certainly WWE will see some more changes. During the interview, Miller mentioned that most sports events happen on Mondays. So if WBD lands a deal with WWE, they might shift RAW to some other weekday to garner more audience.

This could be a massive change in WWE’s traditional programming with its flagship show being on Monday Nights ever since its debut in 1993.
