Tony Khan‘s AEW finished the year 2023 strong, grossing over $170 million to $175 million in revenue. In 2022, the Jacksonville-based company had garnered a revenue of $100 million. This means the company experienced a staggering increase of 60% and more in terms of profits than the previous year.

Considering the statistics, AEW fans were hopeful the promotion may make similar gains this year too, but Dave Meltzer believes otherwise. According to his prediction, Khan and AEW may face a challenging time in 2024, as their profits could decline due to losses against WWE’s rival promotion.

Dave Meltzer claims AEW won’t have much success in 2024

Meltzer recently became a part of fans’ AEW profit discussion on X. The journalist has been answering queries from curious fans on the social platform. One such fanatic asked Meltzer whether AEW would continue to make incredible profits like it did in 2023.

Meltzer straight-up refused and claimed that it wouldn’t be possible at all. AEW saw a 67% jump in profits from 2022 to 2023, which is not sustainable. Therefore, it won’t happen again, Meltzer stated. He also claimed AEW will reach the profit mark of 10-12% only this year.

Factors that may have led Meltzer to predict AEW’s profit decline in 2024

Despite making a 67% profit jump, Meltzer believes AEW is still not believed to be profitable. It is because the numbers point towards only how much AEW made in 2023 but don’t account for the net profit the company collected. Moreover, if we consider AEW’s performance as compared to WWE, then we get an actual idea of why Meltzer predicted a decline in AEW’s profit for 2024.
