Today, Punk is set to appear at the biggest WrestleMania of all time this year. However, his most recent interview and thoughts on AEW and Tony Khan have led him into hot water.

Punk worked in AEW for two years, marking his return to pro wrestling after his stint in the UFC. However, after things fell apart and he was terminated, he returned to the WWE after almost a decade.

CM Punk reveals AEW secrets and how he was given “guaranteed money”

Punk appeared on the MMA Hour and had a lot to say. The Chicago native is set to appear at WrestleMania XL despite not being in a match, and fans are excited about it. While addressing what was happening in the WWE, he touched upon his time in AEW. He said, “But when you’re there… like… guaranteed money almost ruined pro wrestling.” 

This line, in particular, got fans up in arms as it reflected back to what Adam Page said about Punk. According to Page, Punk was someone who only looked out for himself. The current AEW star was all for guaranteed pay, as it helped wrestlers who were not part of an active storyline. This structure would ensure that everyone on the roster was paid.
