The last two years have been a roller coaster ride for Jon Moxley in AEW. He returned in January 2022 to sign a new five-year contract with the company. Today, Moxley is having a great run in AEW and it’s thanks to the time he spent in rehab for alcoholism in 2021.

After overcoming his demons, the former AEW Champion returned to the ring, fit and healthy. Recently, he shed light on his current happy and healthy life.

On the November 2nd, 2021 episode of Dynamite, AEW CEO Tony Khan announced Jon Moxley had made the decision to enter an inpatient alcohol treatment program. Furthermore, Khan also stated AEW was in full support of the star’s decision.

The aftermath was what we saw in January 2022. Moxley was a completely changed man, and it was reflected in how healthy he looked upon his return. Recently, in an interview with Sports Illustrated, the former AEW World Champion shared being happy about keeping his substance abuse issues in the past.

Moxley said. “You always think your life would be perfect if you had one more thing. Doesn’t everyone do that? But every day, I’m reminding myself of how good things are right now.”

He added, “I’m in my ideal situation. I have a beautiful family. I’m healthy. I’m not afraid of dying of cardiac arrest in the ring. My substance abuse issues are in the past. Sh*t happens, but I’m healthy. I get to wrestle in AEW on Dynamite, and nobody’s up my a**.”

The 37-year-old is in great shape now and puts on top-notch matches in AEW. Moreover, he is a locker room leader as his new contract states he has taken mentorship and coaching roles alongside being an in-ring performer.

Clearly, from Moxley’s words, it’s clear that he has a positive outlook on life. Additionally, he also shared what his life is like now, after re-inventing himself and becoming healthy.

In the interview, Moxley shared what a joy it is to be part of the creation of something new every week in the ring. The wrestler also cherishes the time he spends with his wife Renee Paquette, and daughter Nora.

The former WWE Champion said, “I can experiment and create a new piece of work. It’s part of the collective history of pro wrestling every single week. This is my ideal life. Beautiful wife, beautiful daughter. I’m healthy and I get to do what I love.”

Moxley often calls himself a loner and rarely interacts with the outside world. Hence, this interview gave a major insight into his life. It’s great to see him in a happy place now, doing what he loves and enjoying the comfort of his family.
