Jack Perry had a physical altercation with CM Punk at the AEW All-In event held in August 2023. According to a compilation of reports from various media outlets, Perry was angered that CM Punk refused to let him use real glass in a spot during an AEW Collision. At AEW All In, Perry confronted Hook for the FTW Championship and at one point touched the glass of a car and threw a message to Punk on screen: “Go cry in the river.”

This situation led to a backstage brawl erupting when Jack Perry returned. Some wrestlers, guests, and staff watched what happened, but have not been allowed to speak until now. The story ended with the firing of CM Punk and a suspension for Jack Perry, who has not returned to AEW’s programming since. According to a renowned journalist, Tony Khan is mad at Perry, and so are the fans.

Dave Meltzer, journalist for Wrestling Observer, spoke about Jack Perry’s current situation and said that, despite still being under contract with All Elite Wrestling, Tony Khan continues to be angry with him because the situation he caused led to the firing of CM Punk. “Perry has not been fired by AEW, but there is still tension between him and Tony Khan. Essentially, Tony is really mad at him because he cost him CM Punk, so he’s getting the blame.” Meltzer further added, “He probably should have been suspended for a month or two. Where are we at? Seven months now? It’s ridiculous. Punishment doesn’t fit the crime at this point. I mean, it’s like it’s his fault because the other guy lost his mind?”

Despite being absent from All Elite Wrestling, Jack Perry has started an interesting career in Japan. He debuted in New Japan pro wrestling in January during the Battle in The Valley show. In March, he was revealed as one of the participants in the New Japan Cup tournament and joined the House of Torture faction. However, it seems like fans are still mad at Perry.
