Over the weekend, the news of CM Punk’s firing was the talking point in the pro wrestling world. AEW announced Punk’s contract would be terminated after Punk was involved in a backstage altercation involving Jack Perry. Tony Khan also weighed in on the fact that he feared for his safety along with other people involved with the promotion. Recently, ex-WWE star, Mark Henry commented on Punk’s release.
Henry is a decorated WWE star who joined AEW in 2021 after leaving WWE. In a podcast, Henry shed some light on how Punk was considered a problem at AEW and why that might not be the case.

On the podcast Busted Open Radio, Henry was asked whether AEW is in a better place post-Punk’s firing, he first said a simple “Yes”. Later on, he elaborated by saying, “Now, you can freely go and there will be no more complaining. There should be no more complaining.”, implying that the root of the problem considered by AEW is gone now. But what he said next changed the narrative.

He said, “The problem is gone. The so-called problem is”, hinting that according to Henry, Punk might not be the problem here. He then said, “Everything should be sh**s and giggles and unicorn p** and rainbow blankets”, expressing the fact that AEW should be doing better moving forward
He concluded by saying, “That’s what it should be now. I’m curious to see how it’s going to be. The problem is solved.” stating that he is just as curious as fans are to see how Punk’s departure will affect AEW.
The statements given by Henry imply that Punk might not be the real problem for AEW. And other people from the pro wrestling fraternity think the same.

Vince Russo weighed on Tony Khan’s statement
Vince Russo wondered if Tony Khan truly thought that professional wrestling was just like his childhood action figures coming to life. Russo, known for his candidness, openly discussed Khan’s grasp of the wrestling industry. Russo highlighted that during his time in wrestling, wrestlers typically kept their issues private, rather than making them public.
Jim Cornette, a wrestling veteran with extensive experience in managing and booking wrestlers, is famous for freely sharing his opinions, particularly during podcast discussions. He didn’t hold back when he criticized Tony Khan for making the statement on Twitter about releasing CM Punk after feeling threatened for his life. Cornette even called Khan “dramatic” for his statement.
