Released WWE Star Who Helped Make $2 Million Very Close to Signing With Rival AEW

Here’s a thing about WWE and AEW that is very well known to the fans – released WWE Superstars usually end up as AEW pro-wrestlers.

There are quite a few examples of that, and the most recent name on the list is Shane ‘Swerve’ Strickland, aka Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott. He was a part of the stable, Hit Row, before World Wrestling Entertainment released him.

An exclusive report by Fightful Select reveals that the former WWE Superstar is in conversation with AEW for a possible signing. Initially, Wrestling Observer had reported the same, but it was uncertain at that point.

Now, the new information reveals that AEW spoke to Strickland almost immediately after his WWE release. The company is working with the belief that the deal is going to take shape. It’s expected that Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott will begin working with AEW from March.

AEW is considering a different role for Shane ‘Swerve’ Strickland

The company has reached out to Strickland and has had internal discussions about making the former Superstar a crossover star.

Keeping AEW aside, Strickland has been busy making appearances for NJPW, GCW, and even ROH showed interest in booking him for their reboot.

WWE might have a former AEW pro-wrestler joining

Most of the time, the pro-wrestlers move from WWE to AEW. More often than not, they’ve revealed that AEW gives the pro-wrestlers much more freedom than Vince McMahon and Co. ever did.

However, just because something is the norm doesn’t mean one can’t break out of it.

Recently, Cody Rhodes left AEW after failing to negotiate a contract with the company. Since then, fans and other speculations have revealed that Rhodes may be on his way to WWE, again.

After Monday Night Raw: February 21st, 2022, fans predicted Rhodes would come to the Red Brand. It so happened that as Edge issued an open challenge for WrestleMania 38, Rhodes could be the one who will accept the same and mark his return.

However, there is a significant portion of the AEW Universe that is completely against Rhodes returning to WWE. They believe Rhodes should move to any other promotion, but not Vince McMahon’s promotion, at all.
