It has been more than a year since Mercedes Varnado aka Sasha Banks, left WWE. Apparently, new negotiations between Mone and WWE hit a stumbling block over her salary, leading to her exit from the promotion in 2022.

However, as per several reports, there has been an ongoing bidding war between the WWE and AEW to sign the superstar. And amidst all the rumors, she may have dropped a massive hint about her return.

In a recent series of Instagram stories on her account, Sasha Banks uploaded photos of several of her in-ring gear and wigs. Though she did not provide a caption for the post, as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

And the sudden decision to bring out all her ring gear amidst the rumors of a comeback surely hints at the possibility for fans to finally see ‘the Boss’ dominate the women’s division again. But the big question still looms: would she be coming back to WWE or taking her talent to grace the stage at AEW? With the sudden exit from WWE, it seems Banks is looking toward joining Tony Khan and the team in WWE’s biggest rival promotion.

But despite major signs pointing towards Varnado’s name being on the AEW roster, according to some reports, we cannot completely rule out WWE.

Are the hopes for a WWE return still alive?

The former WWE champion’s sudden exit left sour tastes in the mouths of both parties involved. Despite holding the tag team title, one of WWE’s four horsewomen took a surprising exit despite being one of the top stars in the women’s division. The idea of exiting with the title is not new to the company. In fact, another female superstar, Alundra Blayze, too, walked away with the title and threw it in the trash as she joined rival promotion WCW back in the 90’s. Ever since, even the idea of recreating the same has been a big no-no for Vince McMahon.

So looking at the scenario, it looks unlikely that there will be a comeback, right? Well, not exactly. Renowned wrestling publication PWInsider.com reported an update on Sasha Banks’ return to WWE. The report stated, “The last thing heard (which was around Christmas week) was that communications have opened between WWE and the former Sasha Banks about a potential return.”

They further reported that “WWE sources noted that several factors, including change in ownership and the Paul Levesque creative regime firmly in place, set the stage for the two sides to reset their relationship and for Sasha Banks to potentially return.” So it is safe to say that under Triple H’s regime, he might offer something good enough to make Banks change her mind. And that is exactly what WWE fans would be hoping for as well.
