The pro wrestling gods have finally answered the prayers of the Internet Wrestling Community. Mercedes Mone FKA Sasha Banks has finally made her return to an American pro wrestling promotion. While many wanted it to be WWE, she decided to go with AEW. She made her AEW debut at Big Business on 03/13 at the T.D. Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

On the latest episode of Busted Open Radio (After Dark) former WWE star, Bully Ray reflected on the AEW’s new CEO’s debut at Big Business. However, one thing that he pointed out was that a lot of fans were questioning why Tony Khan decided to open the show with Mone. Well, according to Ray, it was a smart move by Khan.

He said, “Now I had people chiming in on Twitter going ‘Why would they start with Mercedes? Why not build up to her?’.” Ray then went on to explain that AEW usually starts its show with a high note and then it gradually drops down. This in turn affects the ratings as well. “Here’s the thing. I don’t know if you guys noticed but AEW starts at their Apex, their Zenit, that’s normally where they start and it kind of dips off. “

But he believes that starting and ending the show with Mone kept fans locked in for the entirety of the episode. Ray said, “People stuck around. The very smart way to open this show with I mean people kinda knew she was debuting tonight, if you did you got what you wanted right off the bat. Smart move by Tony Khan. He did not keep the fan base waiting.”

However, the question is what’s next for Mercedes Mone after her AEW debut.

What’s in store for the CEO?

Mone being given the moniker of CEO means that she will likely be positioned as a top star in AEW. She could be cornerstone of the women’s division in the promotion, more than filling the void Jade Cargill left in AEW. This also means that with this status, she will have to face some adversaries as well. While her stance is yet to be decided, a worthy opponent might be waiting for her already.

Someone who might want to go mano-e-mano with Mone could be the current AEW champion, Timeless Toni Storm. The current AEW women’s world champion might feel threatened with Mone’s debut as her spotlight might be stolen from her. Or, it could be the other way around with Mone trying to go after her. She could also start a feud with Willow Nightingale who she referenced in her promo as the person she has unfinished business with. This is in reference to their NJPW Strong women’s championship match in which Nightingale injured Mone.
