AEW Dynamite Homecoming dropped a massive update! Despite facing backlash on social media for setting up Hook in the title picture against Samoa Joe, Tony Khan has made it official that the two will be facing off next week on Dynamite.

Tony had been firm on his decision, defending it on Twitter for the past few days. Even calling out WWE fans and veterans, which has now erupted into somewhat of a feud after he mentioned the decision by WWE to push Jinder Mahal to face Seth Rollins for the title. And now, what was once just an idea is coming to fruition.

In a segment in the latest AEW Homecoming, Samoa Joe’s promo was interrupted by Hook. While the two did not share the stage for long, the brief exchange and “one week” repeated multiple times by Hook confirmed that he would be aiming to be a double champion now with the FTW already his and now a chance to get the AEW world championship.

But it would be fun to see how Swerve Strickland reacts to it, as he too had been looking to get a shot at the title. But for now, he will have to wait and see if we get a new champion or if Joe manages to retain it. While the match would not cater to the interests of many, the buildup and the Twitter battle surely entertained many followers of the sport on the social media platform. For those unaware, here’s a quick recap.

After AEW hinted at Hook getting a title shot after his call out to AEW world champion Samoa Joe, fans couldn’t help but voice their opinions against the decision. According to them, Hook still hasn’t established himself enough to face off against someone as mighty and dominant as Samoa Joe. However, Tony thought otherwise.

Defending his decision to back Hook, he came up with the argument that Hook has a professional wrestling record of 28-1. He also called out fans for going against him but not calling out rival promotion WWE for their decision to put Jinder Mahal into the title picture. Mahal has had a poor win-loss ratio for the past few years and is not a big draw for the company. However, veterans such as Eric Bischoff and Sid Vicious came out in support of ‘The Modern Day Maharaja’. Jinder too decided to reply with a simple tweet asking “Who TF is Hook” while announcing himself as the GOAT very recently.
