“Unexpected Unavailability”: Tony Khan Teases More Injury Problems for AEW Amid Sasha Bank Return Rumors

Just like any business, pro wrestling can have some unexpected last-minute issues. One such issue is the unavailability of a star either because of an injury or due to any other commitment. It looks like Tony Khan has encountered something similar. The President of AEW has laid down the foundations for legendary pro wrestler Sting’s retirement match along with rumored Mercedes Mone f.k.a Sasha Banks’ AEW debut. However, amidst a hectic time, it looks like he has encountered a major roadblock.

Tony Khan faces an unexpected hurdle

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) the President of AEW shared with the fans that this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite will be presented with a 5-minute overrun. Along with that, Khan stated, This has been one of the most hectic weeks for injuries + unexpected unavailability that I can recall in @AEW, especially since the pandemic era.”

Despite facing technical difficulties and issues with the unavailability of stars, Khan has given it his all to provide fans with their weekly dose of AEW Dynamite. The buildup plays a pivotal part as the promotion hosts two major events in March. On March 3, 2024, AEW Revolution graces the television screens. While this event showcases Sting’s retirement match, Will Ospreay also makes his debut after signing with the promotion.

On March 13, 2024, AEW Big Business will take place in Boston. While details about the event do not come readily, rumors suggest this might be the time when Banks makes her AEW debut.

While Khan is trying to make things work, there has been an arsenal of blockbuster AEW stars who are out of action because of injury issues. In a recent interview, Khan opened up and provided injury updates on numerous stars.

Khan provides an injury update on promotion’s two biggest stars

Two of the major AEW stars who are out of action due to an injury are Kenny Omega and MJF. While Omega is suffering from severe diverticulitis, MJF is suffering from repeated shoulder injuries. Both of them will be staying out of action, with Omega being hospitalized for some time. Khan recently gave an update on how Omega is doing health-wise.

Talking about Omega, he said that the star is doing well now. However, he was extremely sick and if would not had sought medical attention immediately, his life could have been in danger. Talking about MJF, he did not reveal much. However, he did tell the interviewer that fans should keep a close eye on all things related to MJF.
