WATCH: AEW Manager CJ Perry Reveals Details of Her “Fatal Infection” From the Hospital Bed After Surgery

CJ Perry, better known in the WWE as Lana, currently plies her trade in AEW. The former WWE star gained notoriety as the manager of Rusev. Joining AEW, she continued this role, but the wrestling legion received some bad news regarding the star. Perry announced on social media that she was hospitalized due to a fatal infection.

CJ Perry gives an update on her injection and more details

Perry was recently hospitalized due to a fatal infection. This came in the form of a splinter that she got backstage. This tiny splinter resulted in an infection that went from her finger to her arm. She missed the CMLL on Friday and the following Collision event on Saturday.

Taking to social media, she posted a video update. In the video, a visibly weak-looking Perry talked to her fans. She said that she needed surgery and thanked the fans who were praying for her health. Perry also captioned the video, “I have been in the hospital since Saturday fighting a fatal infection that came from getting a small splinter backstage at work.”

The wrestling faithful will remain hopeful that the AEW star can overcome her health complications and return to the squared circle soon enough. The former WWE star expressed her gratitude to her legion of followers, who kept her in their thoughts and prayers.

Perry and her now husband went over with the WWE fans near the end of their run in the WWE. The storyline the duo was involved in was abruptly dropped as Rusev was let go of the company. This led to Rusev joining AEW, followed by Perry years later.

The failure of the WWE to utilize Perry to the best of her abilities

There is no denying that Perry was gifted on the mic. Despite her lack of in-ring skills, she worked best as a manager. Many fans believe she could have been the female Paul Heyman.

However, the WWE gave Perry and Rusev the heel angle and never capitalized on the fame the two gained in the WWE. Had the WWE focused on the pair and booked them properly, they could’ve been the power couple of the WWE.
