A WON report suggesting some strong Heyman and Reigns’ stratagem behind Rhodes losing the WrestleMania 39 main event emerges as the catalyst for these accusations.

Cody Rhodes underwent significant trauma last year, missing out on his first chance to wrap his father’s dream belt around his waist despite all the hype throughout an emotional build-up session. The WWE creatives earned the scorn of the pro wrestling community for not pulling the trigger on Rhodes’ run and extending The Tribal Chief’s reign. That said, the final decision over the winner did not find its basis on merit. Rather it came about due to the pull exerted by Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman.

The unforeseen outcome didn’t only silence Rhodes’ spirit. Dave Meltzer spilled the deets on the latest edition of his Wrestling Observer Newsletter, ”Reigns & Heyman believed it would be more beneficial in getting people like Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa over, and would make Rhodes a bigger star to hold off the switch for a year.”

One can argue that the decision to delay The American Nightmare’s title reign has worked out. Rhodes’ support from the the WWE Universe has not waned and his crowning moment emerged as an all-time historic moment for the promotion. Jey Uso has also experienced a significant surge in his singles career after going up against The Bloodline. Solo Sikao has also started to reap the rewards of the decision with the Samoan star now acting as the supposed leader of The Bloodline. However, some netizens received the fuel they needed to lambast the former champion’s intentions and actions.
