Bryan Danielson Recalls the Time He Thought Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Would Steal His Shtick

The world of professional wrestling has never witnessed a more electrifying man than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. However, the era of modern-day professional wrestling had found its new superstar in Bryan Danielson, aka Daniel Bryan. The former WWE superstar made his name within the circuit for being the most entertaining and high-octane competitor.

His fast-paced style of wrestling earned him the moniker of ‘ The American Dragon’. During the road to WrestleMania 28, The Rock found himself at the receiving end of ‘Yes’ chants while cutting a promo against his highly anticipated clash with John Cena.

The Rock acknowledged Bryan Danielson

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is arguably the greatest when he grabs the mic and is regarded as an absolute legend. He is a man who has many monikers and millions of fans around the world. Naturally, it is quite easy for him to take over the center stage and command the love and adulation from the fans.

In a conversation with Jim Varsallone, Bryan recalled Rock’s promo and how the audience highjacked it with his Yes chants. He was sure that Rock would say something intelligent and soon take over his shtick and make it his own. However, the electrifying one paid his respect to ‘The American Dragon’ and refused to take his shine.

“It was a pretty cool moment. It was interesting because I wasn’t on Raw that night, I was just on the dark match. There was a funny moment where The Rock was out there doing a promo and everybody starts chanting ‘Yes!’ for Daniel Bryan and I said, ‘Oh no,’ because the Rock is so quick-witted.”

“I said, ‘He’s for sure going to turn this around and it’ll become his thing. I’m not gonna have it.’ He came back and said, ‘Hey man, you’re super over out there.’ ‘Oh, yeah, it was really nice.’ He could’ve easily turned it around into a Rock thing and he didn’t, that was very kind of him.”

The eye-brow-raising, trail-blazing Hollywood superstar is quite generous. He lives by the sword and dies by it, with one aim to solely entertain the audience.
