The history between Arnold Schwarzenegger and The Terminator series is famous in Hollywood. The two are connected like peanut butter and jelly and neither could have succeeded without the other. Terminator started in 1984 and was one of the biggest movies of the year. With such a charismatic lead and a wave of new technologies used, the movie became a pop culture phenomenon.
So, it was a piece of great news when it was announced that Arnold will be returning to play his role, T-800 in the new Terminator movies. But who would have guessed that they would change the way Arnold did fight scenes? Luckily, the actor behind the iconic role revealed everything in a WWE interview to clear the air about the new movies.

Arnold Schwarzenegger once revealed his Terminator secret in a WWE interview
While sitting down for an interview with WWE’s Renee Young in 2015, Arnold opened up about his role in the fight scenes in Terminator Genisys. He said, “Fighting myself. I mean, this was funny. Because we had this bodybuilding champion that was also a stunt guy. And he was very good, and he trained himself to walk like the Terminator. And fight like the Terminator and all that stuff.”

Being 68 during the filming of Terminator Genisys, there was no possible way to bring back the physique that he had back in the 80s. To make up for that stunt doubles are always ready. And to mimic the great Terminator with Arnold is a dream come true for many bodybuilders. It was great that the casting crew invited a bodybuilding champion to play Arnold as well. This acted as a nod to Arnold’s past and the legacy that he has left in the industry.

While the new movies were amazing to watch and a great time at the theaters, they didn’t clock in the same kind of box office numbers. This was really disappointing for Schwarzenegger. This probably led to the last movie completely bombing the theatres as well as being a critical bomb. But being the legend that he is, it did not affect Arnold even a little.
