Ahead of WWE RAW, Adam Pearce announced that Drew McIntyre could not compete in the King of the Ring Tournament. The Scottish Warrior was set to face Finn Balor for the first qualifying match. While it was never revealed what actually happened, it was said he was not medically cleared. We got an update on why McIntyre could not compete during the show.

Drew McIntyre couldn’t compete due to the elbow injury CM Punk caused

A few weeks ago, when Drew McIntyre said, “I fractured my elbow at WrestleMania XL,” he wasn’t lying. As it turns out, the injury was worse than predicted. The interaction between Pearce and the WWE star revealed that McIntyre hid the severity of his injury. This was used in the building storyline with CM Punk. While the Scottish star took the credit for injuring Punk and setting him aside for Mania, now Punk is doing the same. After not getting the green light from Pearce, McIntyre left the building. However, Punk came out to cut a promo on him.

McIntyre has been dealing with his elbow injury since Mania. While talking to Pearce, he hinted that he didn’t want to be shelved and claimed he could tape it up. However, since the medical team hasn’t cleared him, he will not be wrestling till they give him the green light. The Scotsman’s name has been added to the list of shelved wrestlers due to injuries. The list includes Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, Seth Rollins, Punk, Asuka, Charlotte Flair, and Jimmy Uso. There is no confirmation when McIntyre could be seen back in action. However, this could be karma coming back to McIntyre.

Since injuring Punk at the Royal Rumble, the Scottish Warriors basked in the glory of stealing Punk’s Mania moment. However, this came back to bite DM Hunk when Punk did the same. The Scotsman was after the WWE World Heavyweight title since Crown Jewel 2023. He finally pinned Seth Rollins to win it, only to showboat in front of Punk.

This led to the Second City Saint attacking Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase. Priest walked away with the title, and the Scotsman was the champ for less than five minutes. In a way, Punk unintentionally did to McIntyre what he did to him. It was during this attack that the Scotsman fractured his elbow. What did you think of McIntyre now being shelved? Tell us in the comments.
