WWE had many huge plans for Drew McIntyre after he dethroned Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. However, the COVID-19 pandemic came at a very wrong time for both WWE and McIntyre.
If not for the pandemic, McIntyre was set to face ‘The Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury. The match would have been a spectacle as it was supposed to be hosted in the United Kingdom.
According to journalist Alex McCarthy and Inside the ropes, WWE was planning to have an exclusive WWE UK PPV.

WWE wants to use Drew McIntyre to capture the UK market
The United Kingdom is a very big market for WWE. The company, on a yearly basis, signs a lot of talent from Great Britain. WWE also started an NXT brand only for the UK, in addition to yearly Raw and SmackDown tours.
2020 would’ve been the year when Vince McMahon finally won the market, especially with Drew McIntyre being the first-ever British world champion in WWE history.

“This situation has affected a lot of plans, let’s just say things were looking positive and when things are looking a little bit more normal, I’ll be pushing once again because, we’re on the right path and it’s not a case of if it will happen, it’s when it will happen, we’ve just got to roll with the punches right now and eventually we will get that UK PPV we deserve.”
Fury has a third fight against Deontay Wilder which may happen before the end of this year. The Gypsy King also has two dates tentatively locked with Anthony Joshua.
