Considering this comes right after the announcement of Musk purchasing Twitter, there’s no doubt Foley’s statement is about the same.

Some have supported his claim and others have refuted it. While some users believe that Foley is coming forward with valid criticism, a certain section is of the opinion that the former WWE champion doesn’t support free speech.

But the only way to understand whether or not Foley’s criticism is valid is by understanding why Musk purchased the social media platform.

Why did Elon Musk buy Twitter?

Musk and the social media platform had been tied in a rift. It started after Musk revealed that he is the highest individual shareholder in the company. Additionally, he revealed he was offered a seat at the table and rejected it.

Musk’s whole point of purchasing the platform is to promote free speech and not limit a user’s account or ideas. Currently, the policies followed by Twitter allow the company to limit an account or remove content based on terming it as hate speech or violent speech.

The Tesla CEO wants to dismiss this policy and give users the opportunity to openly express their ideas without limitations.
