A few years ago, Tony Khan launched AEW aka All Elite Wrestling, which started giving major competition to WWE. Recently, after WWE announced their Money in the Bank PPV in London, AEW followed it up with the announcement of their live event in London as well.

However, recently wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer gave a report which proved to be a shock for hardcore WWE fans. He revealed AEW broke a major record and recorded the highest gate sales in England with their Wembley ticket launch.

AEW, a few weeks ago announced that they will host All-In pay-per-view in UK’s historic Wembley stadium which has an all-seater capacity of 90,000.

Dave Meltzer recently reported that its Wembley Gate sales hit a record-breaking $4.7 million within the first day of launch. And with his feat, it became the largest in England and the second largest in Europe.

 

Previously, WWE’s PLE Clash at the Castle had collected an overall of $8 million. While WWE collected a total of $8 million, AEW collected more than 50% of it on the very first day.

The first quarter reports of WWE in 2023 are out, and they are impressive. WWE has record major revenue sales record and sets an impressive standard. While AEW created a record in England, it failed to hurt the standard of Vince McMahon’s WWE.

While the profit has gone down from the Q4 results of 2022, it has recorded a unique viewership record. The 2023 Q1 has recorded a revenue of $297.6 million, and it has seen a drop from last year’s  $325.3 million.

The Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber events recorded domestic unique viewership records with increases of 52% and 54%, respectively. The viewership of RAW and SmackDown also saw an increase of 7%. WWE CEO Nick Khan also commented, “We are off to a strong start in 2023. Operationally, we continue to effectively execute our strategy, including staging the most successful WrestleMania of all time in early April.”

Amidst a deal between UFC and WWE, the company still managed to fair well and record good sales. With AEW set to host their show in Wembley in August and already looking to sell out the stadium, WWE could be keeping a close eye on the events at Wembley Stadium on August 27.
