2022 was an undulating year for the WWE superstar and popular Hollywood actor Dwayne Johnson. Firstly, he finally got the opportunity to play his dream character in a DC Universe movie ‘Black Adam’. But the movie failed to garner the success usually associated with a Dwayne Johnson movie, after a moderate showing. Soon after its release, DCEU decided to discard the film and the superhero character from the movie franchise as Warner Bros underwent a massive change with James Gunn and Peter Safran taking over.

However, Dwayne Johnson is still a part of the DC universe as he lent his voice to the character “Krypto the Superdog”, in an animated feature. But recently, the director James Gunn threw a bombshell on Johnson’s fans as he expressed his wish to replace the $800 million net worth star Dwayne Johnson with the $80M net worth Marvel movie star Chris Pratt. It isn’t sure whether it will happen, as Gunn’s tone seemed rather light.

James Gunn said, “I was hoping I could cast you as Krypto the Superdog (in Superman Legacy). You could do motion capture on set and walk around on your hands and knees, but you can’t talk…….I’ll pay you in crypto, which amounts to zero dollars.”

Here the key point is, Gunn wants Pratt to give voice to the character ‘Krypto the Superdog’, which is already being done by the WWE superstar Dwayne Johnson. DJ lent his voice to the character in the animated movie, DC League of Super Pets, but Gunn revealed his plans to include Krypto in his live-action Superman Legacy.

Dwayne Johnson’s DC future

After the relative failure of Johnson’s passion project Black Adam, The Rock’s future with Warner Bros. and DC is under a cloud. Although it will be hard for DC to keep a name like Dwayne Johnson away from its franchise, the immediate future suggests The Rock won’t donning the Black Adam costume anytime soon.

Right now, both DC and The Rock appear to be on different trajectories altogether and both seem to be doing well on their own.
