WWE has bagged yet another talent. And it is an Olympic medalist. In the past, the company has enriched its talent roster with Olympic medalists like Kurt Angle, Ronda Rousey, Chad Gable, and Gable Stevenson. Now the sports entertainment company has added Tamyra Mensah-Stock to its extremely talented pool of pro wrestlers.

In 2021, she became the first Black woman to win gold in freestyle wrestling at the Tokyo Olympics. After conquering the world of amateur wrestling, now she has started a new venture, and it is to dominate the pro wrestling world. Let’s dive deep and find out more details about the situation.

Tamyra Mensah-Stock begins her WWE journey

ESPN was the first media house to break out the latest WWE news. The media house in its report revealed that on Tuesday, the sports entertainment giant shared the news of their latest talent acquiree. Mensah-Stock will begin her journey in the Stanford-based company from their developmental program.

It is no secret she had been thinking about joining Vince McMahon‘s promotion for quite some time now. Following her historic win at Tokyo Olympics 2020, during an interview, she expressed her desire to work in the pro wrestling promotion.

The 30-year-old Olympic wrestler reported to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida earlier this week on Monday. During an interview with ESPN, she told that her goal will be to work up her way to the main roster within a year. This is not the only thing she said during the interview.

Joining the promotion has been a long-life dream, says Mensah-Stock

The Texas resident told ESPN that she wanted something new and challenging in her life, so she joined WWE. She said,Man, this is not fun anymore. I need a change.” She proceeds to say that she has always wanted to be a part of the promotion. And confessed her love for the sport.

“Something in the back of my head that’s just been itching at me, a dream of mine, for I don’t know how long. I just wanted to be in the WWE. I love watching the athletes just in the ring, just going what they do best,” she added. It would be interesting to see what gimmick she adopts when she sets foot inside the square circle.
