The Undertaker and Kane are two towering figures in pro-wrestling that truly defined the word ‘kayfabe’ in the business. Back in ’97, there was not one WWE follower believed that the two are not brothers.

We hate to break it to you, but, it isn’t true. The Undertaker and Kane are not brothers who were separated in their childhood when ‘Taker decided to immolate Kane and his parents.’ That was all the part of the immaculate storytelling.

However, this doesn’t take away anything. The thing the WWE Universe remembers now is the countless jaw-dropping moments these two superstars produced during their tenure.

No matter how much we thought that these two were brothers, they were not. However, the WWE creative team took the liberty to portray Kane as Undertaker’s half-brother who ‘Taker had attempted to kill.

The Undertaker – His debut as “Kane The Undertaker”

The Undertaker has had a long and storied career in the WWE, beginning in 1990. The first incarnation of the Undertaker was actually named “Kane the Undertaker”, and the WWE creative team wanted to give him a costume similar to what Kane wears seven years later.

The red costume was later canceled, and ‘Taker wore his iconic black attire. Undertaker fought under the name ‘Kane the Undertaker’, in his first few matches in WWE. Eventually, it was changed to simply, ‘The Undertaker’.

What was Kane doing before portraying The Undertaker’s brother?

‘The Big Red Machine’ went on to becoming one of the most famous gimmicks in the history of the pro-wrestling business. He carried the same persona throughout his career after 1997.

However, his career before ’97 was all over the place. The former champion had different personas in the WWE. Initially went by the ring name, Isaac Yankem, a private dentist to Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler.

This was not the only gimmick that the WWE Hall of Famer portrayed before settling for a 7 feet tall demonic character. When Kevin Nash, aka Diesel and Razor Ramon, left WWE to jump ship to WCW, Vince McMahon did the unthinkable and cast two superstars to portray fake Diesel and Razor Ramon.

Yes, you read right! Fake Diesel and Ramon. Eventually, the fake Diesel was portrayed by Glenn Jacobs, the man behind Kane’s mask.

Luckily WWE settled with Kane’s gimmick and it was the best thing that happened to Glenn and his wrestling career.
