Booker T Explains Why He Doesn’t Want a Sting vs. Undertaker Match in WWE

Booker T and Brad Gilmore had an intense discussion about the Sting vs. The Undertaker dream match, especially the cinematic match.
Firstly, both of them agreed that if it comes down to a choice between a cinematic match and a match inside the ring, it’s the latter that makes sense. However, Gilmore clarified that if the only way to witness the dream match was cinematic, then he would be up for it.

Now, Booker T claimed that he does not want to witness a cinematic match between Sting and The Undertaker at WWE. He backed his claim with a good reason.
“That’s a story that we gotta create. That’s a story we gotta go outside the realms of believability to make something like this interesting. Sting being such a character, The Undertaker being such a character. I think in the ring all that was taken out of the equation. The story they were going to be able to tell would have been inside the square circle. Two guys, going one on one.”
This is an opinion that even fans will be divided upon. While some might enjoy the bits of fiction attached to a cinematic match, the entire essence of this dream match lies within watching both of going at each other with no additional effects supporting it.
Sting recently claimed that he transitioned to AEW because Tony Khan offered him cinematic matches. He knew that WWE would not make a match against The Undertaker a possibility, and hence he did not see the point of continuing.
The reason WWE did not book Sting vs. The Undertaker match
Booker T gives a reason the match did not happen.
“Sting coming into the WWE when he did, was he well past the time for a match like that to happen? Yes. It’s not way they would have able to go out there and have that match that they could have had ten, twenty years ago, when I first came in. That was when the match was supposed to happen. It was not in the cards for that match to happen, Sting vs. The Undertaker, and it was all due to Sting being reluctant to come over to the WWE at that time.”

As an outsider, this might come across as an excuse from the company. Unfortunately, this may have been the case after all.
A match between Sting and The Undertaker would mean two Superstars going at it with everything. They would have spared no item. Not the chairs, the kendo sticks, and not even the announcers tables or arena barricades.
WWE, as a company, could not have risked putting two wrestlers in such a match. When the possibilities of severe injuries are endless, the company had to decide.
