Breaking: WWE Completes Second High-Profile Signing From AEW Following Cody Rhodes’ 2022 Arrival

WWE, the global wrestling juggernaut, has once again made waves in the world of professional wrestling with a significant acquisition. Its unparalleled reach and status have attracted stars from all corners of the industry over the years and now they have another huge name to boast about.

They have got their hands on another incredible talent in the form of an ex-AEW star. After signing Cody Rhodes from All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in 2022, WWE has secured another major coup, this time in the form of the former AEW TBS champion.

In a surprising turn of events, Jade Cargill, a rising star in professional wrestling and the longest-reigning TBS champion in AEW’s history, has officially inked a multi-year contract with WWE. The 31-year-old sensation was a prominent fixture on AEW television until just a few weeks ago. She is now set to commence her WWE journey at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, starting this Tuesday. The question that remains now is whether Cargill will go straight to the main Roster or NXT.

While the wrestling world eagerly anticipates Cargill’s WWE debut, it remains uncertain whether she will immediately join the WWE main roster or undergo training and development in the highly-regarded NXT brand. For WWE fans and indeed for the higher ups it is a major statement signing, one they will hope delivers on its promise.

In a tweet that sent shockwaves through the wrestling community, WWE stated, “BREAKING: @Jade_Cargill has signed a multi-year contract with WWE, as first reported by @espn! http://ms.spr.ly/60139YIPT” 

The tweet underlined the excitement around Cargill’s move to WWE even further and built anticipation.

Longest reigning TBS Champion and teaming up with Shaquille O’Neal

Jade Cargill’s journey in professional wrestling started just two years ago with her AEW debut in a high-profile mixed tag team match. The match took place in March 2021. She teamed up with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal against Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet. Interestingly, Cody Rhodes, transitioned to WWE last year after co-founding AEW in 2019 and headlined WrestleMania 39.

Cargill’s impressive reign as the inaugural AEW TBS champion spanned an astounding 508 days. The reign lasted from January 5, 2022, to May 28, 2023. Cargill’s remarkable athleticism and physical strength were the hallmarks of her AEW run.

She has amassed almost a million Instagram followers. This solidifies her position as a top draw both inside and outside the ring. All eyes are on Cargill as she begins this new chapter in WWE to see how she can keep fans interested and bolster WWE’s stacked Women’s division.
