Before becoming a pro wrestler in WWE, John Cena was a competitive bodybuilder. However, his career as a bodybuilder never took off, and he chose professional wrestling and WWE as his main career.

However, after several extremely successful years as a pro wrestler, Cena left it and joined Hollywood.

John Cena has enjoyed quite the career in WWE, as one of the top stars in the company. He has had an illustrious career, full of achievements and accolades. However, after tasting it all, he decided to choose Hollywood.

Several other actors in Hollywood, such as Dwayne Johnson and Arnold Schwarzenegger, also came from different backgrounds.

The aforementioned actor, Dwayne Johnson and Arnold Schwarzenegger, are also known for the physiques that they possess. And each one of them has achieved it with extreme determination and hard work. However, for John Cena, it was a moment to give back to his bullies.

During a promotion with Crocs, Cena revealed his true motivation behind working out. He stated that as a child he was bullied, and it ignited in him the desire to workout and grow big. He said, “I remember the walk to the school bus, at the very least, five times, shoved down, toppled down.”

However, his desire to grow big led to an unexpected event. The Terminator actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, held an unbeatable bench-press record from 1968 of 400lbs. However, in 2015, Cena came forward and broke his record with 463lbs.

It was Cena’s desire to overcome bullying that ignited his passion for bodybuilding and led to him breaking The Austrian Oak’s 1968 record.

At 45-years-old what does John Cena’s workout routine look like?

John Cena is way past the prime of his career, but he does not seem to stop anytime soon. He is currently in one of the best shapes of his life, and it is all due to his determination and will power. During an interview with GQ in 2022, he revealed his workout routine and diet.

Cena claimed to begin his workout with cardio and then moving to an hour of physical training consisting of compound exercises, Olympic weightlifting and power movements. Although he mentioned that he does the same training as he used to do before, but now with lighter weights.

Cena also revealed the importance of stretching and yoga, and how he does that because it helps him keep fit. John Cena is currently in peak condition, but it seems unlikely of him to returning to WWE anytime soon.
