CM Punk appeared as a guest on Renee Young’s (Renee Paquette) Oral Sessions Podcast. During this session, he raised a red flag about WWE’s recent third-party-policy.

According to this policy, WWE Superstars cannot be active members on third party platforms like Twitch and Cameo, especially if they are using their in-ring names. This was primarily to protect the in-ring characters that WWE creates for each pro-wrestler.

However, WWE had claimed that anyone who wishes to do so will need to share the revenue with the company. Zelina Vega was one among several others who took a stand. This ultimately got her fired from the company.

CM Punk believes that Vega getting fired is the trademark WWE move where the company takes harsh actions against Superstars who aren’t favoured by Vince McMahon and others.

He raised the issue of Xavier Woods. They have allowed the latter to continue running UpUpDownDown on YouTube. Recently, he was confirmed as the G4 Host too.

Does WWE get money from that? Why is it okay for him to do that but Zelina Vega can’t have Twitch? That was always my thing. And I was labeled as a ‘complainer’ or ‘whiny.’ There’s always outside interest and not just for me.”

CM Punk revealed a similar incident from personal experience

If WWE is discriminating between Superstars, then this will not be the first time. During the same session, CM Punk revealed John Cena was one Superstar who received priority over other wrestlers, almost all the time.

“One person got a role, playing a wrestler because they knew someone producing a television show for a certain channel and when it got shuffled to the office, they were like, ‘No, you can’t do that.’ Next thing you know, John Cena is doing it. They would literally take every single request that came through and would funnel it to the one person that they wanted to be the face of the company.”

Punk provided examples to back up his claim. There was a time when he was selected to be on a WWE pinball game, but the company later said no.

Next, THQ wanted Punk as the cover of WWE 13. The company offered others such as Sheamus, The Miz, and even John Cena. However, THQ bypassed all options and went ahead with CM Punk.
