CM Punk’s Return to WWE SmackDown 12/8 After 9 Years Results in a Massive Achievement

The WWE Universe still can not accept that CM Punk is back in the WWE. After nine long years, the most loved and controversial star returned to WWE  during the Survivor Series: WarGames 2023 PLE. Despite making two appearances since his return, he has not yet entered a feud or picked a brand. However, this has resulted in some massive achievements for the WWE.

Punk made his return during the closing minutes of the PLE. He followed up his blockbuster return with a scintillating promo the night after, during the closing segment of Monday Night RAW. Moreover, his upcoming appearance during SmackDown has already hit a milestone.

On the first episode of Monday Night RAW, Punk addressed the crowd regarding this time away and being back in the WWE. While he acknowledged that everyone was happy to see him back, some were not. He ended his promo by saying that he was not here to make friends but to make money. This raised fans’ interest in what the WWE could plan with Punk.

Punk is scheduled to make his first SmackDown appearance during the upcoming episode. This will be his first SmackDown appearance since January 7, 2014. With the episode being WWE’s annual ‘Tribute to the Troops,’ Punk’s presence has resulted in massive ticket sales.

On social media, the WrestleTix’s X account posted some shocking stats of the upcoming SmackDown show. Set to take place at Amica Mutual Pavilion, Providence, the show is already at almost full capacity. A total of 8,604 tickets have been sold.

The episode of RAW that was held here sold only 7,720 tickets. This concludes that Punk’s arrival on SmackDown has been a massive draw for the company.

Possible plans for Punk to feud with Seth Rollins

Fans strongly believe Punk could be signing with RAW as Randy Orton has picked SmackDown to go after Roman Reigns and The Bloodline. The reaction by Seth Rollins to Punk’s return at WarGames hinted at a possible feud.

Many believe the two could begin their feud around Mania season to build by the Royal Rumble 2024 and WrestleMania 40. Fans would love to see Punk go after a title belt, and it could be the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
