During its Golden Era, the WWE was blessed with a plethora of top wrestling talents, but Hulk Hogan was arguably the most recognized. At the apex of his decade-long run from the early 80s to the 90s, The Hulkster feuded with many legends, including Andre the Giant. These encounters laid the groundwork for their legacy.

Like in sports, the opponents have extended amnesty to one another after their in-ring retirement, though they continue to remember the times they jostled. A 69-year-old wrestler, one of Hogan’s famed opponents, has now set his sights on 16x World Champion John Cena.

Ted DiBiase and Hulk Hogan kept the audience hooked with their respective heel and face gimmicks. While Hogan played the upright American, DiBiase used unscrupulous ways and wasn’t shy of using his wealth to gain an advantage.

The other thing DiBiase wooed spectators with was his supreme mic skills. The 69-year-old is revered for his promo-cutting skills.

So it was interesting when he replied to a tweet that presented a scenario of him going up against John Cena as his opponent while reminiscing about his storied feud with Hulk Hogan a few days ago on Twitter.

“Imagine the mic battles if I was chasing the gold against @JohnCena instead of @HulkHogan all of those years. Of course I would win, that’s obvious,” part of the WWE legend’s tweet read. With DiBiase skill set on the mic, he might consider himself a winner, but John Cena is no slouch either. In fact, the 16x World Champion is one of the most accomplished stars on the microphone.

Now that DiBiase has presented with a ‘what if’ situation, fans would love to know who would have walked away as the winner if the two had clashed during their prime. Since they are from different eras, DiBiase’s claim will remain unverified as of now.

Meanwhile, DiBiase also spoke about a problem while facing Cena and he doesn’t have a fix for it. Well, the 69-year-old brought up a running Cena joke to poke holes at his proposed opponent. “The question is how? Tough to beat an opponent I cannot see! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! #WhatIfWednesday,” the other part read.

Maybe he can use his wealth to list the help of other WWE talents who have beaten the man who cannot be seen.

The joke, complete with the famous hand shuffle, has become part of pop culture.

John Cena’s ‘You Can’t See Me’ gesture transcends WWE boundaries

In April alone, the iconic ‘You Can’t See Me’ gesture has made the headlines thrice. From US politics to NCAA basketball to Division I Softball, John Cena’s presence was felt.

In one of the events, the gesture was met with a lot of criticism and subsequent counters after college basketball player Angel Reese used it to taunt her opponent.

A few days later, Softball player Bri Ellis used it after hitting a home run in her team’s winning cause.

Meanwhile, it’s ironic that millions across the globe have replicated the move when Cena himself wasn’t sure if he should do it. Yes, it started as a dare from his brother. One dare that John Cena accepted and the rest… is history!
