Among the fascinating title matches at the WWE Night of Champions, one is for the Intercontinental Championship. The clash for the title will take place between the current champion, Gunther, and Mustafa Ali, who will fix his eyes on naming the title. However, before the bout, WWE released an iconic collage that forced fans to react to it. 

It wouldn’t be incorrect to say that the last year was quite eventful for the leader of Imperium. In June last year, he claimed the WWE Intercontinental Championship title by defeating Ricochet. Since then, he didn’t let the prestigious title leave his side. He has won both inside and outside the ring. Although many superstars came to attack the title, no one could succeed. This led to Gunther making his place alongside the legends known for their reign in this title. 

WWE gives Gunther a position alongside the icons

After winning the Intercontinental Championship title, Gunther has held the title to his heart. It’s been 350 days since the superstar has had the title and now, at the Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia, he will be defending it one more time. This made him not only the first Austrian to have the title in his name but the longest of the 21st century as well. Although, he stands fourth when it comes to the longest reign in the championship’s history.

This must be great news for Gunther fans, but many wrestling enthusiasts on the internet found it odd. They missed the inclusion of a superstar from the monochromatic collage and voiced their opinion on it.

As soon as the report of WWE’s recent actions came on social media, fans started their riot. They needed an answer for not including the eight-time Intercontinental Champion, The Miz in the iconic collage. Thus, they made themselves heard through some straightforward statements which gave an edge to The Miz above Gunther.

Some of the fans put their blunt comments out in public that also talked about the greatness of the 42-year-old star. 

A few fans even concluded that this action by the WWE is a push for Gunther before the Night of Champions. 

All in all, it’s quite evident from fans’ reactions that they aren’t much pleased with WWE ignoring Missionary Mike’s contribution. However, it remains to be seen if Gunther can continue with his record-breaking reign or not.
