“I’ve Lived with Discomfort For All My Life”: Dwayne Johnson’s Close Friend Opens Up on Getting Judged For Her Physical Appearance

Dany Garcia is a well-known businesswoman and the former manager of Dwayne Johnson. She currently heads The Garcia Companies, a global brand development and management company. Garcia and Johnson first met during their college life and from then have remained unseparated. The duo were also married from 1997 to 2008 but later divorced.

Her company is responsible for several businesses such as Acorns, Zoa Energy, and Seven Bucks Productions. She also has a clothing line of her own named GSTQ. With Dwayne Johnson, she co-founded Teremana Tequila. With Johnson, she also bought the XFL for a million and became the first female owner of the company.

Recently while speaking with CNBC, she opened up about how she would advise her younger self. She said, “I wish I could have told myself, “Yes, you are different, and you’re going to be different all your life, and that is your superpower.” Garcia continued, “The differences in what you see are the opportunities of what you want to create.”

Dany Garcia has always been a powerful woman and, like her ex-husband Dwayne Johnson, she is self-made. She shared how she would advise her younger self to take decisions that would build happiness. The CEO of Garcia Companies revealed how she has even spoken to her daughter about this as well. She said, “Being the only woman in the room, a chairwoman of a sports league, these positions have discomfort because no one’s there.”

Garcia opened up about how she had lived with discomfort all through her life. “But I’ve lived with discomfort for all my life. I have competed as a professional bodybuilder and been judged for my physical appearance. I’ve won and I’ve lost” Garcia revealed. The 53-year-old businesswoman spoke about how in the business field she has already won.

She said, “My dad was 16 and my mom was 12 when they came over from Cuba. They had to learn the language. My father worked at a body shop for the majority of our life. He started sweeping floors and then, later on, became the manager.”
