The wrestling world often observes disagreements. At times, these disagreements cause concern for both the personality and the promotion they are working for. Such is the case with CM Punk. The wrestler left WWE in 2014. After several rumors and speculations, he joined AEW in 2021. Things appeared to run smoothly, but he was soon met with disruptions when suspended in 2022.
A former WWE personality also talked about these ‘disruptions’. In fact, he further went on to hold the EVPs of AEW accountable for Punk’s unsuccessful return to AEW. He even called them out for openly hindering Tony Khan’s mission to make the best out of his money.

The altercation resulted in all violently involved individuals getting suspended. Although CM Punk was anyway going to take a break from wrestling due to his injury, the incident pushed him further away from his return.

Jim Cornette shared his personal views on the incident. He believes that Punk will not leave wrestling following this incident, because leaving the profession with this reputation will only be harmful to his public image. Cornette explains that despite Punk sitting at home, his annual contract with the promotion is getting him regular cheques. Due to the issue, Tony Khan has his 7 figures a year invested in Punk without getting much out of it. “Every time it looks like there’s a movement for Tony Khan to get some return on his investment of seven figures a year, he is sending this guy [CM Punk] a cheque, to sit at home because his f*cking EVPs are b*tthurt,” said Cornette.
