Former World Champion The Great Khali to Enter the WWE Hall of Fame

In a truly surprising piece of news, the Punjabi Playboy, The Great Khali, will enter the WWE Hall of Fame. The seven-foot giant is the first Indian to enter the Hall of Fame, which is a tremendous achievement. Khali’s former manager Ranjin Singh broke the news to him over a video call.

In 2007, one of the biggest men ever seen in a wrestling ring made his WWE debut. The sheer size and raw power of this man had both his opponents and members of the WWE Universe quivering.

He destroyed the legendary Undertaker on his first night in WWE and holds a PPV win over the man who rarely loses on PPV.

From Taker to Rey Mysterio to Shawn Michaels, a plethora of WWE stars fell victim to the giant, until he ran into John Cena.

Cena recorded two wins against Khali, beating him by submission at Judgement Day 2007 and winning a Last Man Standing match at One Night Stand.

After his failed WWE Championship exploits, Khali moved to SmackDown where he won a battle royal to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

He held the title for 61 days until Batista snatched it from him. After that reign, the only sniff of championship gold Khali would get was when he unsuccessfully challenged Triple H for the WWE Title at SummerSlam 2008.

After his run in the main event, Khali tread water in the mid-card before his WWE contract expired. After that, he began his own wrestling school and promotion in Punjab called Continental Wrestling Entertainment. His students featured in January’s Republic Day Superstar Spectacle PPV.

During the beginning stages of his WWE career, Ranjin Singh managed the seven-foot giant. He acted as his translator as well, cutting promos on behalf of Khali.

He revealed the news to Khali saying, “It is very exciting, and Khali, congratulations. You know I love you, we are brothers. I’m so happy I was the one who got to deliver the news to you.”

The Great Khali even wrote a long thank-you note on his Instagram page alongside the video of the news being confirmed by VJ Gaelyn Mendonca from WWE Now India. He wrote, “Humble beginnings and difficult challenges are the foundation of every great accomplishment.”
