It is common for many pro wrestlers to follow the path to Hollywood after gaining popularity in the wrestling world. Another WWE superstar was spotted in preparation of a silver screen project evidenced by their recent social media post. But what does this mean for the former WWE star and her fans?

AJ Lee spotted on the set of Heels TV series

Wrestling World CC posted a picture of AJ Mendez fka AJ Lee was posted on X on December 31st. The tweet read, “AJ Mendez on the set of Heels 💯”. The picture in reference was from the set of Heels TV Series on Starz. AJ Lee was sporting wrestling gear with a supporting pad wrapped around her right knee. It is not known if the pad was a part of the production or a genuine injury she is carrying.

For fans who do not know, Heels is a TV series that airs on Starz cable network. The show was created by Michael Waldron and first aired on August 15th 2021. After the success of the first season, a second season was announced that aired on July 28th 2023.

A third season was underway but it was halted due to the controversial comments of the show’s star, Stephen Amell. But given the new picture of AJ Mendez, it is confirmed that the third season is underway and will be available soon.

As for the plot, it revolves around the world of wrestling. In Duffy, Georgia, brothers Jack (Stephen Amell) and Ace Spade (Alexander Ludwig) run the Duffy Wrestling League (DWL), their late father’s legacy. Jack, the ruthless owner and “heel” champion, desperately clings to the DWL’s family roots. Ace, the charismatic “face” of the DWL, craves national attention and bigger dreams.

The show not just only features actors as wrestlers, but has also featured pro-wrestlers. AJ Mendez’s husband, CM Punk was featured in the second season as Ricky Rabies, which eventually led to his wrestling debut in AEW promotion.

Is there more to AJ Lee’s appearance in the Wrestling show?

But, can we expect something similar from AJ Mendez? Will she return to the world of wrestling as she last appeared in April 2015? There have been rumours about her return, but nothing concrete is on the cards, though she has started wrestling in the ring. 

However, given the long absence of Charlotte Flair due to injury, WWE may consider AJ Lee. We have the Royal Rumble PLE approaching which is considered optimal for major returns. Lee has remained adamant that she wishes to stay retired but stranger things have taken place in the world of wrestling.
