The Rock, on the other hand, was from a family of wrestlers. However, Henry confirms the fact that nothing in life came easy to the 48-year-old.
“It ain’t many wrestlers that were born into wrestling. Everybody said, oh another guy whose dad was a wrestler, another whose grandfather was a wrestler. He came into the business and became the best, arguably that ever existed. I put the Rock right up there with Ric Flair, The Undertaker, Andre the Giant, Hulk Hogan, like the greatest, Steve Austin? He’s right there.
“And when he came from Canada, he was playing for the Calgary Stampeders, and he realized that you know what I’m not gonna make the kind of money playing football in Canada as I could wrestle. He came back here with seven dollars in his pocket,” said Henry.
Mark Henry on how the two worked together
Henry says that when Rock came to WWE, he didn’t have a place to stay. Henry offered to let him stay at his home, and that’s where their bond grew.

“But the first day he says, hey, I’m retired, I’m never wrestling again. He’ll go onto the Hall of Fame, and that’s the first two guys that Vince McMahon picked to be in the developmental system. There was no developmental system before Dwayne and me, and we both killed it,” explains Henry.
