It is not often in the WWE that a female wrestler reaches levels where she can take on her male counterparts. There are only a handful of examples like Chyna, Beth Phoenix, Nia Jax, and, most recently, Rhea Ripley. Ripley took to social media to clarify which returning former WWE Champion she would like to face off against, and it is not a female.

Since her NXT days, Ripley has stood apart from the other females in the WWE. However, since she made her debut on the main roster, she made it clear that no one would stand in her way, whether female or male. But, is she ready to face off against a former 4 times WWE World Heavyweight Champion in his possible retirement match?

No one expected to see the Rated R Superstar, Edge, makes his return to wrestling in 2020. Since then, he has had a monumental push as a babyface and a heel. Considered one of his generation’s most popular wrestlers, fans know he doesn’t have much longer in the WWE.  So, before he returns for one last feud, fans are up in arms about who that person should be facing in his retirement match.

Talking to social media Just Talk Wrestling posted an image of Edge with a caption asking who his last feud should be with. While the fans didn’t waste time throwing in names like Randy Orton, or John Cena, one comment stood out. It had only one word, “Me,” and Rhea Ripley posted it.

Rhea Ripley & Dominik Mysterio Reportedly Leaving Judgment Day With New Leader Set to Be Named

This comment made wrestling fans excited while also displaying skepticism about a match like this. While many claimed it would be the perfect send-off for Edge as the creator of the Judgment Day that turned their backs on him, others wondered if there were better opponents. Many claim that an intergender match would not work in today’s WWE climate. However, fans are still hopeful.

Edge has faced off against all the other members of Judgment Day. However, he never faced off against Ripley, who he asked to be part of the stable. This adds a new layer to the storytelling angle of his final feud. While he put down the others, Ripley is the one that got away.

The WWE Universe caught in two minds over a prospective Ripley vs Edge match

Edge is scheduled to return to WWE SmackDown on August 18th, 2023. This will also mark his 25 years in the company celebration. Fans do not doubt that Judgment Day will have plans to ruin the celebration of their former leader. While intergender matches are not allowed in the WWE, fans would still love to see Edge Vs. Ripley. Even Booker T commented that he had no issues when a female such as Ripley took on men. This is reminiscent of Chyna winning the Intercontinental Championship.

Fans quickly expressed their feelings on social media regarding Ripley being Edge’s last feud.

Many are excited at the prospect of an intergender match.

While many believe Edge deserves a better final feud.

Some have criticized her for not wanting to be part of the women’s division.

Most fans are excited about this possible feud.

Many fans want to see a mixed-gender match in the current landscape of WWE.

Some fans would rather watch Cena or AJ face Edge.

Edge has already taken on Balor, Priest, and Dominik. Although the last match ended in a disqualification, he was able to put Balor and Priest down for the count. With Ripley being the only member of the group Edge has not faced, it will be fun to see what happens if WWE greenlights this idea.
