It would make perfect sense to let McIntyre have the prize, as he had earned his shot and it was his homecoming moment. But Solo Sikoa didn’t let that happen, making the save for the Big Dog.

Almost two years after that match, Mclntyre admitted that he was extremely frustrated with how his dream to hold the gold in front of his homegrown crowd remained a dream. Now, it will be interesting to see if Mclntyre can cover the loss up with another gold belt at WrestleMania 40 next weekend.
