Over the course of his storied career spanning almost 30 years, The Undertaker provided many great matches that WWE fans from the past like revisiting. His match against Mick Foley at Hell in a Cell in 1998 is one such memorable WWE match. The contest between these two WWE legends is still regarded by many as one of the greatest matchups in WWE history.

Speaking about the same, WWE veteran Bruce Prichard provided some insight on the contest and explained that since Taker and Shawn Michaels had already fought in the famous cage battle, it was difficult to beat it. However, they did it so effortlessly that at one point, WWE fans believed the bout had gone too far. And owing to the deadly fall Foley wouldn’t be able to ever compete again.

Bruce Prichard’s insights on the historic Undertaker vs Mick Foley battle

On his podcast, Prichard said that Foley expressed some uncertainty about the outcome of the match when he learned that he would face The Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell battle at the 1998 King of the Ring pay-per-view for the sixth time overall. Thus, WWE decided to start at the top of the cage to set the bar high right from the start.

If somebody were to propose the match’s plot, as per Prichard, it would be ridiculous. However, the two executed it flawlessly. The brawl began with a lot of fire and fury. From the outset, it seemed clear that the match would see some significant historic turn of events. Notably, WWE fans who were present during the fight saw that Mankind had some severe injuries. And the most horrifying incident that night was the initial hit Foley took.

In his words, “When Mick Foley took the initial bump the first bump of the top of the fu*king cell. He didn’t move. He just laid there like a sack of sh*t. And didn’t fu*king moved. Jim ross’ call on that was oh my god he’s broken in half. Good god he’s broken in half you believe it. And the way they shot it and got of it gave you the impression that oh my god he’s a bit moving. He could very well be dead.”

He continued by saying that jumping from a height of two stories was extremely terrifying and praised Foley for dealing with the situation so well that nobody really believed he was still alive. However, Terry Funk went immediately made sure he was okay. The famous battle, however, continued despite the horrific action, giving the audience a match that never be forgotten.
