Returning after being released from the company is a quite frequent practice we get to see in WWE. Many superstars have made their much-anticipated return in the past. Unfortunately, it will not be the case for the former WWE US Champion Matt Cardona.

WWE released Cardona back in April 2015. That didn’t necessarily put an end to his wrestling career, as the man has been continuing his journey and embarking on bigger success with his run with AEW, Impact Wrestling, and many more.

‘My goal right now is to prove that you don’t necessarily need a quote-unquote major wrestling company to be a pro wrestling star, and I think  I’ve done that. But they know my number and I’ll pick up, you know what I’m saying’, the former Zack Ryder elucidated.

While confirming that he won’t return to WWE in the future, Cardona, however, didn’t hesitate to admit that it’s definitely a dream for him to perform for the number 1 wrestling promotion. He also gave all the credit to the sports entertainment giant for making him the superstar he is today.

As we all know, sometimes there is more satisfaction in self-discovery. That is exactly what Cardona did. Reflecting on his departure from WWE, the American superstar noted, ”But I would be lying if I said I never wanted to wrestle at Madison Square Garden or have a WrestleMania moment or be in a WWE video game or have a Mattel figure. I’m always ready. I would have a conversation 100 percent because listen WWE is number one — there is no denying that. My wife is there now, and I’m so proud of her, but right now like I feel like I’m doing work that I needed to do. I needed to leave WWE to find myself, and I have.”

The reason behind the huge speculation about Cardona’s return

Fans previously speculated if he would finally end up in WWE or not. Though the speculation was somewhat teased by Cardona himself. He probably wanted to keep the guessing game on. Previously the Broskie dropped a hint about his return at Royal Rumble which later proved false as it was his wife, Chelsea Green, who turned up at Rumble. Cardona also stated earlier that he was ready to make a return to WWE under his real name only. Moreover, with Triple H making huge changes in the business, including bringing back several superstars lately, it was not very wrong for the WWE world to expect him to be back as well.

However, for now, we are totally elated to see him going strong and all by himself as a wrestler, no matter under whichever promotion.
