A career in WWE means a superstar needs to be good on the mic, and have excellent promo skills. Although not every superstar can do it, some excel at it. Superstars such as The Miz, The Rock, John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Kevin Owens are some of them.

Back in the late 90s during the attitude era, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin were absolutely gold on the mic. Their promo-delivering skills were second to none, and their catchphrases are still iconic and legendary.

In 2016, The Rock and Kevin Hart hosted the MTV awards, and Johnson presented his excellent promo skills here as well. Both Hart and Johnson came out dressed as DC Superheros and absolutely dissed the MCU and its actors.

Long before starring as Black Adam, The Rock was Superman. At the 2016 MTV Awards, The Rock came dressed as Superman, while Hart came out as Batman. The Rock started his shtick by roasting the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He said, “DC is in the house! This is Justice League’s house. You know what? I smell a lot of Marvel b***s up in here!”

He then said, “Chris Evans? Captain America? Superman and Batman will slap you right back in to the Fantastic Four. We will kick your a** right back to Asgard.”

He even took the name of Chris Pratt, who was present at the event. The Rock said, “Guardians of the Galaxy, Chris Pratt, we will smack your a** right back to sitcoms b*tch.” The line was a reference to ‘Parks and Recreations’, a sitcom in which Pratt used to star.

What Inspired Dwayne Johnson to play Black Adam?

Dwayne Johnson is currently on a busy schedule, doing promotions for his film, Black Adam. However, recently he spoke with Polygon and spoke about the inspirations and similarities between Black Adam and one of his other characters.

When asked about his corporate champion gimmick and heel turn in WWE, Johnson said, “Man, I love that you said that.”

Dwayne Johnson further stated how the attitude era was extremely violent, and they got away with a lot of things. He then insisted on how the wrestling world is very different now.

He said, “While people may not have agreed with the heel Rock, they all understood why he was doing what he was doing because I had the opportunity to talk about it.” Johnson claimed that the same thing is with Black Adam, while people may or may not agree with him, or interpret him as a villain, antihero, or even superhero. People may not agree with his philosophy, but they will understand it.
