After an exceptional match at WrestleMania 39, defeating Charlotte Flair, Rhea Ripley is on the top of the mountain. But that was not the case all along for her in WWE in her initial days. The Eradicator has come up a long way in WWE, not just as a superstar, but also as an individual. 

The Australian WWE star recently opened up on the horrors she felt upon arriving in the USA initially. There were major concerns before starting her journey in WWE.

Rhea Ripley opens up on her initial days in WWE

Recently Ripley appeared on After the Bell Podcast with Corey Graves. She gave an insight into how tough life was for her in WWE when she started. The Eradicator moved to the US at the age of 20 years old and had several concerns pertaining to her future. She was concerned that WWE won’t sign her because of her tattoos.

Ripley said, “I was really scared, shy, and timid when I first started here in WWE. And I remember growing up watching WWE, there was never really women that were heavily tattooed except Lita, she was the only one really. But when I was growing up there was pretty much no one when I was watching it. So I thought I couldn’t get hired unless I didn’t have tattoos pretty much.”

The 26-year-old added, “That’s why I didn’t have the tattoos, I didn’t look the way I….I just wanted to get hired so bad, I was holding off on everything and just hoping for the best. I always did what I was told, I just wanted to make people happy.”

Clearly, taking baby steps on the ladder of growth in her personal and professional life has helped Ripley very much.

Nevertheless, she had those newcomers jitters that several people have, but the 26-year-old was too young at the time and had many troubles personally, as she shared on the show.

Ripley didn’t think she belonged in WWE

The Eradicator appeared in WWE at the 2017’s Mae Young Classic tournament. It was a scary time for her personally during the time from the first and second Mae Young Classic in 2018 which she won.

The SmackDown Women’s Champion said, “But between like the first Mae Young and the second Mae Young, I went through a lot of c**p. at work and at home, like my relationship was really rocky, I missed home, I was incredibly homesick. I didn’t feel like I belonged.”

Nevertheless, today she is one of the top WWE superstars in the company and even though playing a heel she is most loved by the fans. Also after defeating The Queen at the grandest stage she is on a different level in WWE.
