“It Didn’t Start Off Well For Us” – WWE Hall of Famer Details His Friendship With The Undertaker

The Undertaker bid adieu to the squared circle at WWE Survivor Series last Sunday. His final farewell was attended by those very near and dear to him including WWE Hall Of Famer, The Godfather.

The Godfather reflects on his friendship with The Undertaker

The Godfather, in a recent interview with Justin Barasso of Sports Illustrated, discussed his friendship with The Undertaker and how it all began back in the day.

He said, “He was Master of Pain, I was the SoulTaker, and we met in the ring.

“That was an experience. I thought I was the only big guy in that territory. I was green, and I wasn’t looking for any new friends, so it didn’t start off well for us.

“Finally, he hit me over the head with a chair, and said, ‘Are we going to do this the easy way or the hard way?'” said The Godfather. “So we reached an understanding. From that point on, we’ve been the best of friends.”

On how he influenced the ‘Phenom’

“I’m not sure many people know this about me, but I am a hardcore biker. That’s where Taker got a lot of his swagger. A tear almost came to my eye during his conversation with Steve Austin on the Stone Cold podcast. That’s the first time I’ve heard him tell a lot of our stories. Our friendship means a lot to both of us.” H/t SI.com

The Undertaker narrated on Stone Cold Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions: One More Round how it was The Godfather who influenced him to get tatted up. The ‘Deadman’ also shared a story detailing how he and The Godfather almost came to blows once!

The Godfather was part of an infamous backstage group called the ‘Bone Street Krew.’ Members included The Undertaker, Yokozuna, Savio Vega, Henry Godwinn, Phineas Godwinn aka Mideon, Rikishi, Paul Bearer, Brian Adams aka Crush, and Mr. Fuji.

The Godfather was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2016. May it be Papa Shango, Kama Mustafa or The Godfather, Charles Wright, the man behind the characters, always gave his 100% to entertain audiences all around the world.
