The WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin was arguably one of the hottest acts in the history of pro-wrestling during the late 90s. However, he was not always the typical Texas Rattlesnake who rocked a goatee like no one else.

When Steve Austin first debuted in Vince McMahon’s company, he had blonde hair. Yes, Steve Austin had hair on his head back in the day. However, everything changed for the wrestler and the company once he shaved it off.

WWE legend and the voice of wrestling Jim Ross revealed how the iconic bald look of Stone Cold Steve Austin inspired many people outside the wrestling industry to shave their heads and look like him.

When the three-time Royal Rumble winner debuted for Vince McMahon, he was paired with the ‘Million Dollar Man’ Ted DiBiase. Having come fresh from WCW, Steve Austin had got rid of his long hair and sported a much Bruce Willis inspired look from ‘Pulp Fiction’.

Speaking on his podcast ‘Grilling JR’, Jim Ross confessed that after Austin shaved his head bald, he started a wave where various announcers and athletes over there started shaving their heads too.

JR noted that this happens even today, and it is possible because Steve Austin “ignited a style” with his bald head and goatee. What made it iconic was his meteoritic rise in the wrestling business.

“I can tell you with this guy named Stone Cold Steve Austin started breaking the glass. So he ignited a style, a vibe. And that look then identified with success and toughness two traits that men love. There’s only probably one or two things in life you want more than success and love.” he said.
