This development isn’t surprising though. Just weeks ago, reports emerged of Orton’s training schedule. He was practicing at WWE’s Performance Centre in Florida. As per Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, the 14-time World Champion will be back by Survivor Series 2023.

The marquee event is scheduled for November 25, 2023, and will emanate from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. Orton’s last ring appearance in the WWE was on the May 20, 2022, episode of SmackDown. He and his then tag team partner, Matt Riddle, dropped their RAW golds to The Usos in a Tag Team Unification Match.

It was revealed that Orton’s back needed surgery which is likely to have played a role in the outcome of the match. Meanwhile, even with Orton’s return, a part of the WWE Universe is likely to remain sad. Here’s why.

Randy Orton unlikely to join hallowed colleague during return

There is no doubt that The Viper’s return remains one of the most sought-after events in the WWE currently. One would expect the crowd to go crazy as soon as the speakers blare the theme music and the titantron display the iconic logo. But the return is unlikely to cover-up for the gap that’ll be left behind by another legend.

As per reports, Orton’s return is scheduled for Survivor series, which is 21 days after the PLE in the Middle East. While nothing has been confirmed yet, it would make a lot of fans happy to see the two legends, with a shared 30 world titles between them, take the stage together.
